Kadampa Meditation Center Florida

Drop-in Buddhist Meditation Classes

General Program

Kadampa Meditation Center Florida (KMC Florida) offers introductory meditation classes in Sarasota and the surrounding area.  Each class includes a simple breathing meditation, a short talk, and a concluding meditation.  There is also time to discuss over light refreshments.

These classes are suitable for everyone from complete beginners to advanced practitioners.  The classes provide a basic introduction to Buddha's teachings and the practice of meditation.  Through these classes we can learn how to use Buddha's advice as a solution to our daily problems. In this way we come to experience a sense of peace and happiness in our lives.

Everyone is welcome ~ you do not need to be Buddhist to attend, or to benefit from the classes ~ just drop in to any class!

Why Meditate?

The purpose of meditation is to make our mind calm and peaceful.  If our mind is peaceful we shall be free from worries and mental discomfort, and so we will experience true happiness;  but if our mind is not peaceful we shall find it very difficult to be happy even if we are living in the very best conditions. If we train in meditation we will gradually become more and more peaceful and experience a purer and purer form of happines. Eventually we will be happy all the time, even in the most difficult circumstances.

"When the turbulance of distracting thoughts subside and our mind becomes still a deep happiness and contentment arises naturally from within." ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
